Swimming Lessons

Swim School

Certified by the Red Cross and I Can Swim, the Swim School program is for children ages 6 to 16. Swimming and water safety skills are taught in the water so that kids are always active. This approach promotes success and encourages lifelong fitness. A focus on individual achievement creates a cycle of success geared to all kids. All programs are 10 weeks.

Pre-School Swimming Lessons

Certified by the Red Cross and I Can Swim, the Pre-School Swimming Lessons are for children ages 4 months to 5 years. Children enter at one of eight levels based on age and then progress based on either age or ability. Eight levels increase opportunity for parents and their children to take swimming andwater safety lessons at an earlier age. All programs are 10 weeks.

Adult Swimming Lessons

For people age 16 and older. Two levels are offered: Beginner for those that cannot swim on their own, Intermediate for those that have some knowledge and skills, and Advanced for those looking to refine their skills. All programs are 10 weeks.

I Can Swim Fast

Stroke drills, endurance building and goal-setting give swimmers the  knowledge  and  confidence  to  swim  efficiently  and  FAST. Focus is on skill refinement and stroke enhancement to prepare swimmers for swim team. Prerequisites: Children must have successfully completed I Can Swim Stage 2 and/or Red Cross level 7. For children 8 to 16 years old.

Private Lessons

One-on-one private lessons for children or adults. Lessons are taught by our experienced coaching staff and are customized to the client’s need. Send your name and email to lfairlie@cotesaintluc.org to receive information about registration and lesson schedules.

Lifeguard Training

Bronze Medallion

A 9-week course, once a week. Prerequisite: 13 years old and have successfully completed Red Cross Swim Kids 10 or an equivalent.

The Bronze Medallion course teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles of water rescue education—judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Course manual will be provided

Bronze Cross

A 9-week course, once a week. Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion The Bronze Cross course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. They will learn the difference rescue and guarding, the reasons behind emergency procedures and team work.

Standard First Aid

A 2-day course. Prerequisite: 14 years old Comprehensive two day course offering first aid and CPR skills for those that need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Course manual will be provided.

National Lifeguard

A 10-week course, once a week. Prerequisite: 16 years old, Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid certifications This  course  will  give  you  a  legal  certificate  for  lifeguarding throughout  the  country  and  the  only  lifeguard  certificate recognized by Quebec. Course manual will be provided.

Competitive Teams

Swim Team

Instruction on developing skills and endurance (of technical elements) with the aim of competing at Regional, Provincial and National levels. There is an opportunity for physically or intellectually challenged swimmers to join the team and compete in Para and Special Olympic competitions

Masters Swimming

For swimmers ages 18 and older looking to improve their fitness and stroke technique. No previous competitive swimming experience required. Must be comfortable in deep water.

Water Polo

Learn new skills and develop game strategies in dynamic and competitive game. For boys and girls ages 8 and older. Must be comfortable in deep water.

Synchronized Swimming

A sport combining grace and beauty with strength and endurance. Recreational and competitive options offered. Must be comfortable in deep water.

Youth Triathlon

Swim, bike and run. This new Youth Triathlon program is a unique opportunity to work with experienced coaches in partnership with Tri-O-lacs Triathlon Club. Participants will develop and improve skills and techniques in all three disciplines.

Masters Triathlon

Swim, bike and run. This Masters Triathlon is for adults aged 18 or older who want to challenge themselves in three disciplines or newcomers to triathlon wishing to get fit, stay healthy and improve skills and competencies. Participants of all skill levels are welcome, no competitive experience required.
